Since 1991 Star Clippers Ltd. has offered sophisticated travellers the ultimate cruising vacation alternative – a tall ship “mega-yacht” experience aboard authentic re-creations of the classic sailing clipper ships that ruled the waves during the 19th century.
Star Clippers operates three of the world's largest and tallest sailing vessels. Visiting intimate ports often untouched by larger cruise ships and offering passengers the activities, amenities and atmosphere of a private yacht, Star Clippers is recognised as one of the premier speciality cruise lines.
Passengers can enjoy the romance of sailing onboard a true tall ship in a relaxed atmosphere with high standards of service provided by an attentive crew. All three ships have expansive teak decks, swimming pools, informal dining, a convivial Tropical Bar and a comfortable piano bar.
The gently lapping of waves against a wind driven hull. A pod of dolphins playing in the curling bow wave. A salute to a propitious marriage, the wedding of a splendid cruise holiday with the romance of sailing.
These graceful ships fly along the waves, just like the legendary clippers of a century and a half ago. And this is as much an adventure in highly evolved relaxation as it is in tradition. For though computers have not replaced the skilled hands of the crew in the art of raising sails, guests are not expected to become barefoot seamen. Relax and let the crew do the work.
Guinness World Record Holder
The Royal Clipper was officially recognised by the Guinness World Record in 2001 as the World's largest square rigger in service. Star Clipper and her sister ship Star Flyer boasts a traditional four-masted sailing ship design. Offering modern cruising facilities that will please passengers from all over the world, they have a distinctly luxury feel despite their smaller size.
Passengers can get involved with sailing the ship, climbing the crow's nest and pulling the ropes.
Onboard, guests will experience a 2:1 guest to crew ratio.
Royal Clipper, the largest and only five-masted full-rigged sailing ship carries just 227 guests. Sister ships Star Clipper & Star Flyer carry 170 guests each.
Star Clippers is the only cruise company to offer an authentic, natural sailing experience with both modern propulsion methods and traditional sailing.
