An Educational Trip on Borealis...
Our Sales Manager, Daisy, recently had the opportunity to join an educational trip with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, experiencing Borealis on a voyage through the stunning landscapes of Iceland. Here’s a glimpse into her week.
Day 1 – Embarkation in Grundarfjörður
After flying from Luton to Reykjavik, Daisy transferred to Grundarfjörður to embark Borealis. Following the safety briefing, she settled into a spacious balcony junior suite on Deck 6. The evening began with a cocktail masterclass and a delicious dinner in the Borealis main dining room.
Day 2 – Ísafjörður
Borealis docked in Ísafjörður, where Daisy enjoyed a scenic walk through the charming town, complete with a stop for coffee. Lunch was served poolside back on board, followed by relaxation in the hot tubs and spa. The day ended with a sail away from the Observatory, dinner in the main restaurant, and a spectacular evening show.
Day 3 – Akureyri & Whale Watching
One of the highlights of the trip was an unforgettable whale watching excursion in Akureyri – with several sightings making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After exploring the town, Daisy dined in Vasco, one of Borealis’ speciality restaurants.
Day 4 – At Sea
The first sea day included a guided tour of the ship and an afternoon wine tasting experience hosted by Borealis’ expert Sommelier, Dee. A relaxing day with a touch of indulgence.
Day 5 – Another Sea Day
This day at sea was filled with activities, from a fun treasure hunt to a traditional afternoon tea in the Observatory. Later, Daisy joined fellow guests in the Sports Bar to celebrate England Women’s Euros victory, before attending formal night. The evening included a captain’s reception, dinner, and lively entertainment in the Observatory.
Day 6 – Behind the Scenes
The morning began with an invigorating swim and breakfast, before a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the ship (£59pp). The afternoon quiz and final dinner at Colours & Tastes made for a memorable last evening on board.
Day 7 – Dover
After an amazing week exploring Iceland with Fred. Olsen, Daisy disembarked in Dover with plenty of highlights and unforgettable memories.
Whether it’s whale watching in Iceland, wine tasting at sea, or enjoying world-class dining on board, Fred. Olsen offers a cruise experience that combines comfort, adventure, and exceptional service.
